was @ my friend’s 30th bDAY party yesterday nite.  his father happens to be  Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, a very successful international fashion designer out of France.  one of the things he made big headlines for was when he was asked to dress 5,000 priests, 500 bishops and the Pope for their visit in Paris. aside from fashion, he designs furniture and even does visual art (he was telling us that he just sold a few pieces to Kanye West).

anyway, the point is,  I got a chance to kick it with this cat for a while @ the party.  dude is RAGING!  he’s a man of 60 years, but he was so youthful and exuberant- alive.  He literally rocked the party off his ipod, stooped very seriously over the stereo.  He was playing all the new artists, new electronic shT* I had never heard of.  But he also played the sexy shT*– Gainsbourg, Sebastian Tellier.  Vibes! But not only that, he kept cranking the music up to levels to where even I thought, “wait a minute– this is getting loud”.  he was off the CHAIN.

needless to say, I was VERY impressed.  the thing that killed me is that he was up on all the latest trends in music and youth culture.  i kept thinking, “What manner of man is this”??? 60 years old, rocking, sexy, and STILL on the cutting edge.  so…i’ve seen the living example, now I at least know it’s a life possibility.

@ one point during the evening, I heard Cody ChesnuTT blasting from the stereo.  i ran over to him and was like, “What do you know about Cody ChesnuTT???”  He stood up, looked deep into my eyes, and with his French accent and a genuine passion he replied, “Zees album ……changed… our life”.

House dance has been debatingly broken down in 3 styles: Footwork, Jacking, and Lofting. It includes a variety of techniques and sub-styles that include skating, stomping, and shuffling. last nite, went with Aleim to my first opera.  got stressed out ‘cos I didn’t have a suit jacket.

it was an amazing production with set design that was very surreal and futuristic.  The swords of the warriors were fluorescent light-sticks that looked like light-sabers.  finally saw the great placido domingo, so I can scratch that off my list.

the ONLY drawbacks to the event was there were NO shorties, and it was four hours and fifty minutes long with 2 intermissions.  upon coming back from the 1st intermission, i brought a brownie (a violation) and a drink back with me.  this redheaded woman 2 rows behind us, pokes and loudly reprimanded me, “You better not eat during this act! You made noise during the 1st act“  —aleim, totally made noise unwrapping a HALLS lozenge—  I couldn’t believe the audacity of this woman.

I promptly turned around and cut into her with a bitter tirade, “What???!  What gives you the RIGHT??  Are you INSANE” ?!!! It was quite a scene, although, no one seemed to notice, which I found rather odd.

The Svalbard Global Seed Vault (Norwegian: Svalbard globale frøhvelv) is a secure seedbank located on the Norwegian island of Spitsbergen in the remote Arctic Svalbard archipelago. The facility was established to preserve a wide variety of plant seeds from locations worldwide in an underground cavern. The Seed Vault holds duplicate samples, of seeds held in genebanks worldwide. The Seed Vault will provide insurance against the loss of seeds in genebanks, as well as a refuge for seeds in the case of large scale regional or global crises. The island of Spitsbergen is about 1,120 kilometres (700 mi) from the North Pole.

I finally was able to break 12, 000 today. I lucked up and got the GUN on the “U” level. I had like 8 men left and things just went my way.
